If you live in Thousand Oaks, Newbury Park, Westlake Village, Moorpark, Oak Park and Simi Valley you may be able to pay for Summer School programs through local non-profits like Friends of Oak Park and Conejo Schools Foundation if your child is in High School or Middle School.
In the past few years it appeared there were no options for parents of students in Elementary School.
This year I discovered a few new options I’d like to share :
Ventura County Learning Center is offering an Academic Summer Camp program in Moorpark for students K – 8 from June 17th until August 23rd. To enroll visit http://www.venturacountylearningcenter.com/we-teach-success.html
The Institute of Reading Development offers reading classes for 5 weeks at California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks and Sycamore Drive Community Center in Simi Valley. Programs are available for children from 4 – 12th Grade starting in late July. For details on classes, dates and times available near you visit. http://readingprograms.org
Short term classes are offered by the Conejo Recreation and Park District at the Conejo Community Center in Thousand Oaks and Borchard Community Center in Newbury Park. Classes are offered in July and August and are for students entering 3 and 4th grades, or 5th and 6th grades. To learn more about classes offered visit http://www.crpd.org/programs/default.asp and search for “Students Entering” to find available classes.
If you know of more local academic summer camps be sure to let me know by leaving a comment below.
